Hi I'm Safara - the founder of The Kind Neighbour!
I've always had a soft spot for small business. Whether that's supporting local businesses in my personal time or from working with small businesses in the accounting industry for over 7+ years in public accounting in Calgary, Alberta and Canada-wide remotely.
When we purchased our first home in 2025 in Red Deer, Alberta we were committed to trying our best to be ethical and sustainable in our purchases for our new home - by focusing on quality Canadian-made products and used/thrifted items.
From our efforts, an idea blossomed! The Kind Neighbour started as an Instagram page - or more so a love letter - to all the Canadian small businesses we had purchased from on this quest and enjoy on a daily basis. My goal was to share those people, products and initiatives that I was proud to see and to share ways to get involved in own local communities.
It was so fun and fulfilling that it then became a goal to launch my own small business - with primary focus being on supporting other small businesses and also promoting ethical and sustainable goods.
